How is this different to university?

This is for you to do it your way. No charge. No fees. Get the time and space you need in a supportive and vibrant culture. Rental is cheaper than you get back home and, for longer term rentals.  There is a the opportunity to get a partial refund for improving your skills and being more creative! And you'll have the best craic with like-minded individuals. A truly creative and inspiring place. Just try it and tell us what you think. Stay for longer if it works!🤓🤗😍 Are you delaying or holding off that uni application while you consider you options? Then try us! Have you completed your formal further education at university or elsewhere, but know that you need that gap time to develop you creativity and hone those skills before diving into that "career?" I still don't get it! Why not just pop to the library or somewhere quiet or just do it all from my home?

Well. That might be best for you right now. Good luck - go for it! Here you will find like-minded people intent on developing their skills and creativity in a unique environment. Here you can COLLABORATE and have your your ideas challenged or improved by group thinking.  It really is a very special place. You can try it for a short time to see its right for you. You have nothing to lose.  However, the earlier you book, the easier it will be to place you. And you will get a wider choice of dates. Longer term bookings take priority. You may already be part of a group - why don't you come together?

Question 4

What if I want to be placed with musicians I could possibly gig with. Will we all be in a mixed group?

Accepted Answer

People will be placed with others practicing the same disciplines or having similar interests. Select that on you choice of booking. However, mixed grouops offering different interests can be a powerful thing! So, you have the option to select "mixed" if you would prefer this. Remember - longer term placements take priotirity in the timetable so if you are looking for short term try out you will need to be flexible.

Question 5

If I select mixed and I need to work quietly what happens if I'm with a noisy load of rockers?

Accepted Answer

We will establish quieter places on the site and quiter times in the day that everyone will be expected to sign up to. Friday and Saturday nights will be for fun activities of course, including music and entertainment. Even musicians need their quiet times and places to practice, to think and to write. If the balance doesn't seem right for you then choose the single interest option. The balance between quiet and vibrancy has been carefully considered in the design. Writers and inventors, for example, will have longer, extended periods of quiet for refelection interspersed with places and times for nature and adventure or for discussing and playing with ideas. That's how many, but not all, creative brains work best. Talk to us and we will do  everything possible to make the environment and the culture right for YOU.

Can I cook and prepare my own food? I have special dietary needs.

Accepted Answer

People with special dietary needs can prepare their own food should they wish to do so and anyone with serious food allergies need to let the team know prior to booking. Due to limitations of cooking facilities we expect most people to club together to prepare group meals and clean up using a rota. We have a large organic garden for growing your own and you are encouraged to grow, harvest and cook produce on site as much as possible. There is also good access to local produce through local suppliers.

Isn't it a little isolated. How can we mix with the community and what is there to do there?

See the "craic" link on the home page which will take you to all the adventurous activities available within a short walk or cycle ride. You will be "blown away" by what is on your door step!

Question 8

I'm looking for a zero emissions lifestyle. Can you offer that?

Accepted Answer

Yes, within 2-5 years. It is built into our business plan that profits are used to extend the business into a thriving zero emissions facility. Creative Place has turbine facility to actually run the whole place carbon free. Indeed there will be enough to sell back to the grid or provide for the wider community. Solar is also an option we are seriously looking into. The more people who stay with us the sooner we will get that done. So you will definitely be conributing toward our goal. Work could be started within a year if we have full bookings established. Until then the building has a very efficient water heating system and good insulation so it would be fair to say we are already low emmisions.

Can you offer fast and reliable internet? That is essential to me.

Yes. Faster than most places in the UK. There is full fibre superfast gigabit connect to the building.

Question 10

What about transport? Can you pick me up from the ferry / airport? Can you provide cycle hire at very low prices? Is there a good local bus and train service?

Accepted Answer

Yes to all! If you are staying for longer than a week pick ups are free.

Question 11

What about other places in the world? The UK, Ireland, the US and beyond?

Accepted Answer

Were starting small with a big idea. However, should the opportunities arice, of course, we would want to see CrE8ive Places providding opportunities in different places in the world. In the meantime, France seems and ideal starting point.
